Weight Loss Management
What does Weight Loss Management Mean to You?
The statistics of weight loss management are staggering and more than a little depressing.Rather than focus on
specific numbers, let’s suffice it to say that most people that go on diet eventually gain all their weight back
and THEN some.Maintaining weight loss for very long periods can be extremely difficult, especially when you don’t
have a solid plan of action.

You see, many folks who lose weight do so through the aid of a popular diet or exercise fad. The fact is, many
of these plans actually work and they are happy to find that they not only lost weight, but sometimes greatly
exceeded their goal. The PROBLEM arises after the diet or plan has ended and they are on their own.
When we are on our own, we usually do what we always have done in the past and that is revert to past
eating habits and sedentary lifestyles. It is this lack of an effective weight loss management strategy that often
finds us back where we started or as stated previously, even worse. So, how do we establish an effective weight
loss management program?
The key to effectively maintaining long term weight loss is to make changes in your lifestyle PERMANENTLY,
not just for the term of a diet or exercise program. For instance, if you go on a 12 week diet, sure you may lose
some weight, but what do you do when the 12 weeks are over? The same is true of short term exercise programs. Unless
the changes you make become part of your daily life, it is likely that the results you achieve will be short term.
You must instead focus on making small changes to your regular daily habits and work on making them a part of your
life, rather than just something you do from time to time.
Getting up at 6am 3 times per week to workout for the REST OF YOUR LIFE is a healthier goal than just
trying to do it for 12 weeks. Eating 5-6 small meals per day every day is a great way to eat healthier on a long
term basis as well. Choosing to adopt this method as part of your everyday life makes sense and is a great way for
you to achieve long term goals.
Another simple but effective approach to weight loss management is to keep a daily journal. In this
journal, detail what you eat at every meal, when you exercise, and for how long. The reason why this can be so
effective is that if you DO start to gain weight again, you can look back through your journal and start to see a
trend.
It will be easy to see when your diet and/or exercise program began to slack off and what you are doing
differently now than you were at the beginning of the journal. This helps people to take a quick snapshot of where
they are and where they want to be as well.Once your healthy habits truly become HABITS, you may not have a need
for a journal at all as your eating and exercise routing will become a part of you.
Healthy weight loss management can be quite easy if you take the time to develop a system and put some simple
things into place. If left unchecked, weight loss can be difficult if not impossible to maintain, but by focusing on
a long term strategy and taking the process one step at a time, you can maintain healthy weight loss throughout the
rest of your life.
